Dionne's 1973 album Just Being Myself was produced by legendary Motowners Brian Holland, Edward J. Holland, Jr., and Lamont Dozier and recorded at Holland-Dozier-Holland Sound Studios in Detroit. The album was Dionne's followup to her "Dionne" album for Warner Brothers produced by Bacharach/David. When we last left Dionne she was in the midst of a crisis. Bacharach/David had split and she read about it in the newspaper. A pregnant Dionne, with her next album due literally at the same time her son Damon Elliott (producer of Mya, Pink etc.) was due, what was a girl to do? Dionne flew to LA to visit Bacharach at the urging of Mo Osten of WB records. Although Bacharach/David were contracted to Dionne, the contract stated if Warwick was to record outside the contract, Bacharach had to approve. Dionne's visit was unsuccessful. Not only was she unable to convince Bacharach to make amends with Hal David to produce her next album, she left with Bacharach telling her he would not give his permission contractually to allow her to record with anyone other than him. A devastated Dionne reported Bacharach's refusal to Osten, who replied, "well, Dionne, our contract is with you, so Warner Brothers Records will have to sue you." Bacharach finally relented, and Dionne called in favors from her friends Holland, Dozier and Holland. Just Being Myself is the result. Although the album and single were a critical success, this departure for Dionne went virtually unnoticed by the public. In a 1973 appearance on the Tonight Show, Dionne told Johnny Carson that she was not going to "work the album" because of her pregnancy but decided to get out and promote it and Just Being Myself "looks like it's going to do something." DJs loved the tune and gave it substantial air play but it failed to hit. In 1975, Dionne filed suit against Bacharach and David for Breach of Contract. The suit was settled out of court in 1979 for a reported $5 Million plus shared rights of all Bacharach/David/Warwick recordings.

Heres A Rare Out Of Print CD I Purchased in 1991 from the starting new label select when the motown catalog was still being issued under the defunct PolyGram Distribution. This Set Is Titled The Monitors & The Elgins Anthology 2 CD Set SUperb Set This Set Was Limited to under 500 copies and is ultra rare, they are fakes being sold on ebay. im am one of the lucky people to grab this cd by mail order cause it was'nt avalible in stores it contains 48 Tracks and both CD's are each over 79+ Minutes Digitally Remastered too BY Ted Jensen sterling sound.Anyways enough bout the technical jibberish the songs im playing are from disc 1 which also contains the monitors full self titled lp hello were the monitors richard streets fine vocals. The Track I m Playing #1. Bring Back The Love #2. Share A Little Love WIth Me #3. Too Much To Hope For Which Is An Unissued Song Comes Straight From Motown Vaults Mastered Directly To Digital Not MONO Enjoy!!!

Here is a 6 minute clip of Peter Benjaminson's interview with former member and founder of Motown group The Supremes. I believe this was recorded in either 1975 or 1976. This is all of the interview that I have at the moment, apparently there is 8 hours in total. Peter Benjaminson is looking for a producer/distributor interested in mass producing the the tapes in cd or another format. In this part of the interview Florence talks about how she herself saw Cindy rehearsing to The Supremes' performances and says herself that it wasn't unusual for The Supremes to drink before a performance. She also talks about her weight. Hope you all enjoy! MUCH LOVE! Oh by the way me and Individuell83 coincedentally added this interview around the same time. It was not purposeful, so please don't think I stole his vid or he stole mine, as our vids are completely different LOL. Following the success of "Being With You" in 1981, Motown released a version of the song in Spanish. (Tamla T54325F) The 'B' side has Smokey singing in both English and Spanish. "Being With You" was a great song and hearing Smokey sing it in Spanish is an added treat.

velvet knights drum corps motown 1991 pt.2

A Knight at the Apollo - Unchained Melody * My Girl * Ending . This was recorded in Birhamingham, Al at the DCI South prelims. I loved this corps as did many others. In fact countless high school and college bands duplicated this great motown themed show, some almost note for note. "My girl" being one of the best arrangements for corps/bands I can think of. I will be posting some of them later.

My remix of the GREAT Motown Classic by the Late Shorty Long "Here Comes The Judge". Created purely for commercial purposes based on the "Laugh-In" and Pigmeat Markham skits...it surpasses merely being a "novelty" song. With one of the hottest Motown backing tracks by the Fabulous Funk Brothers, the great Andantes, Pervis Jackson of the Spinners as the Judge, and Sammy David, Jr announcing the Judge's entrance...it is a spectacular Motown specialty! I hope you enjoy it! PS...thanks to my UK friends at the Yahoo "Motown Treasures' group for sharing these great and rare images of the late Shorty!
