What can be said about Count Frightenstein? Madcap inventor? Mad scientist? Self-made businessman? Perhaps to say that he is a wildly gestulating, cape-sweeping, tennis-shoe wearing, sign-of-the-three-toed-sloth flaunting megalomaniac is a tad much. He does have his moments. His dedication to get his creation, Bruce J. Monster working again is quite impressive. Count Frightenstein was masterfully portrayed by the late Billy Van. Mr. Van's delightful comedic antics as Count Frightenstein (and other Frightenstein characters) have been brought back to the viewing public thanks to the hard work of the people at Critical Mass Releasing Inc. in Toronto, Ontario Canada.

One of the most (if not the most) popular sketches of The Hilarious House of Frightenstein featured The Wolfman, portrayed by Billy Van. The DJ for the radio station EECH, The Wolfman played many popular songs that are now considered classics. As is the case with a lot of shows that are revived, the cost to license the music now is just too high. Luckily for fans of the show and The Wolfman sketches, Critical Mass Releasing has kept what they can of The Wolfman - minus songs and the psychodelic background he and Igor would dance in front of. No doubt they would love to give old and new fans alike the full Wolfman experience but I think we can understand why that may not be possible.

Julius Sumner-Miller talks about cans and gravity, the Wolfman gets a flirty phone request for Amos Moses by Jerry Reed - triggering the psychedelic lightshow that wasn't in the American versions of the show. The ominous episode ender by Vincent Price used to weird me out as a kid and Igor has the final word after the credits roll.

Professor Julius Sumner Miller, as himself, brought the wonders of Physics to Castle Frightenstein. The clip that I have selected lets the Professor speak for himself regarding his part in the show. I honestly don't remember this part of the show from watching as a child. However, the subconscious must have remembered because when I got to grade nine and the class did the same experiment that is shown here, it felt "been there, done that." It's amazing how things will stick with you even when you don't consciously remember. I find these segments very interesting now that I am older. Honestly, I feel as though I'm viewing them for the first time, even though I know I watched this show faithfully at 5:30 in the morning between the ages of 3 and 8.
