This was an experiment in video taping a looping performance at home. The first part, "UFO DUI", was various tones with strongly modulated delay; the second part, "Starway", was pretty much straight Frippertronics. This piece uses the Korg DLR8000, a 7-string Ibanez, and a Zoom 8080 pedalboard. It's recorded straight to VHS in August 2000. Overall overview: This was just an exploration of the space between frippertronics and sounsdscapes, when I took a sick day. It was fun and one of the rare vids I have of my music making, which is often much more extreme and odd; but I just needed to do this.

This performance is edited into 3 parts, and totals about 30 mins. Part 1 is layered arpeggios, with a Frippish solo. This is a looping piece using the Korg DLR8000, a 7-string Ibanez, and a Zoom 8080 pedalboard. It's recorded straight to VHS in August 2000. Overall overview: This was just an exploration of the space between frippertronics and sounsdscapes, when I took a sick day. It was fun and one of the rare vids I have of my music making, which is often much more extreme and odd; but I just needed to do this.

atmosferic improvisation

This is my more experimental side. Robert Fripp's concept of Frippertronics applied to the acoustic guitar, using an e-bow and a long delaysetting on my Lexicon reverb. This piece is improvised during a concert I gave togethere with a friend who writes poetry. In these concerts he reads a poem, to which I respond with a piece of music. These can be existing compositions or improvisations. He then thinks of a poem that will fit that piece of music. We only know what will happen once we've started.

disism at bay area abject と unusual music festival 4/30/88

A small slice of Disism's performance from the Bay Area Abject And Unusual Music Festival, held on the grounds of the University of California at Berkeley, April 30, 1988. Here Charles Rice Goff III and Killr "Mark" Kaswan create a bit of the piece "Pancake Make Up". Note the group's trademark "Frippertronics" style tape loop system twirling its magic as the group improvises its sonic scuptures. DD Downer video taped and edited much of the outdoor festival, which, in addition to Disism, featured performances by seven other bizarre and disturbing acts. The show was primarily organized by John Ayres of Iao Core. Look carefully and you can see Mark Hosler of Negativland watching the action from the back of the truck, stage right.
