Grandpa and Grandma still dance together like when they were young. They belong to the Shuar people in Amazonia (Ecuador part). When Granpa was a boy his fatner was a headhunter and knew how to shrink a human head to the size of a monkey. Granpa still carries his gun. But he tells us that the wild animals have fled from this part of Amazonia.

Grandpa Cy was married for 57 years, a World War II hero, father of 5 accomplished children, and grandfather to 17. He was a blessing. He died shortly after being diagnosed with stage IV brain cancer. Prior to the diagnosis, I had the opportunity to spend a joyful summer with him, enjoying golfing and picnics at my home. In March 2005, he penned the poem below. He handed me this poem in a sealed envelope in June 2005. He passed away in October 2005. His poem is a gift to all of us. My Message Virtue is a ray of Celestial Beauty The prize of the soul It does not fear the injustice of time But greatly conceals only human affection I will see you once again in Heaven Where virtue has its just reward Joy and Peace Where virtue has its just reward Joy and Peace When I first heard the fateful news Since there was no hope To return to my beloved family Crying and yearning What else could I do? But to turn to you gentle family one time You comforted me in my darkest hours My darkest hour My soul has returned to these friendly shores Accepting its final homage For now I dedicate my singing to you beloved family You are beautiful and wise And heaven has blessed you with all of her gifts Others are less fortunate You deserve all the praise Your beauty harbored a gentle soul All the more worthy for being so modest While others may be haughty and unfaithful Heartless and fickle to those that love them Devoid of every noble thought or reason It is right they should not be praised Do not be slaved to your passions Do not be full of self-reproach I am looking down from Heaven to help you Listen to me now and you will have praise and life I will come to you in the hour of greatest need At your lowest ebb And you are ready to listen Do not be bitter at what fate offers you Realize that on Earth no pleasure or pain is lasting You will one day join me in Heaven Where virtue has its just reward Joy and peace My dear family We will revel in these Celestial honors In perfect happiness Where good never fails And sorrow never existed Do not shrink from the call of eternal God He who has experienced hell Will attain grace in Heaven And he who sows in sorrow Will reap the fruits of grace I love you all. An animation I made at MCAD this summer during SES. ^___^ Made with Flash, Adobe AfterEffects, and Photoshop. WOW I need to check my front page's comments more often. o_o;; Thank you very much for all the appreciation and support for my short vid "The Rescue"! I never dreamed it would ever be this popular. I'll try to answer everyone's questions here. In this particular scene from the story, Maddy had been captured by dragon hunters (not the same clan her grandpa belonged to though) because they wanted to use her for research on dragon magic. They knew she was really a human and wanted to somehow harness the magic the dragon used on her. Meanwhile, Riley manages to find Cypher and make a deal with her to change him back into a dog to rescue Maddy. His reasoning is this: as a human he's covered in dragon magic keeping him in that form. The hunters would see that and just end up capturing him like Maddy. If he were a dog he'd be able to slip in unnoticed. He also wants Cypher to change Maddy back into a human. The dragon agrees, strangely enough. However, she says that since he's been in human form for so long, it's actually becoming more natural for him than his dog form. So she makes it so the moment he rescues Maddy and are out of harm's way, he'll change back into a human along with Maddy. Riley doesn't care, as long as 'his girl' is safe. The dragon takes the spell off of Riley, and he takes off to the research station to rescue Maddy. After he leaves Cypher comments to herself on how his relationship with Maddy seems to be more than a loyal dog and his owner now. 'This should be fun to watch...' she also says. So he rescues Maddy, who is really surprised to see him as a dog, and they manage to get away. =) It's still a very rough work in progress, but it's getting there... any suggestions for the story are appreciated! And suggestions for what I should animate out of the story next. ;D The music is from Okami and Final Fantasy: Advent Children. Songs from Okami are: 'Oki the Hero' and 'Reset: Thank You Version'. The song from FF is 'One-Winged Angel'.
