This game still gives me chills watching it. MJ had that look that was beyond serious. After losing Game 3 in 3OTS, Kevin Johnson bragged about holding MJ to 44pts. Thus, MJ came out in Game 4 with a look of stoic madness. Becoming just the 5th player to score 50+ in the finals, he tied Rick Barry for 2nd highest all time in the Finals with 55 pts. But, the manner in which MJ played was just jaw-dropping - capped with a vicious last shot, MJ-style. Suns' coach Westphal said, "I don't think MJ could guard MJ. I'm as much in awe as everyone else. He's the best offensive and defensive PG ever, the best offensive and defensive SG ever, the best offensive and defensive SF, and he's probably top five at PF and C."

Bulls pull off the first trifecta against then MVP Sir Charles and the Phoenix Suns. Bulls GM, Jerry Krause (a self-proclaimed expert at discovering talent) always bragged about the great defense of "Thunder" Dan Majerle. It was rumored that he had considered trading Pippen for Majerle in the past. This no doubt served as motivation as Money set an NBA finals record for highest single-series scoring average (41.0 pts/game), taking away some, if not all, of Dan Majerle's thunder. You can already start to see his post-up game evolving, something that would serve him well in his 2nd coming. Enjoy this one.

Disclaimer: I don't not own anything these clips belong to J.J. Abrams & ABC. After watching the Missing Pieces "Buried Secrets" I really wanted to do a video of them. The video isn't really that AU-ish because ABC has been hinting pairing these two for a while. So it's mostly of Sun wanting to leave Jin to be with Michael. What a sneak preview of that year's Finals. With the Bulls meeting the top-winning team that year in the Suns, we all knew MJ would raise his game and enter his zone - which he obviously did. MJ mixed in his regular amazing shots with some rarities you'll ever see anyone do ever and today: a half-court, lefty-drive dunk, a fast-break stop/pop jumper and a ridiculous, finger-roll. Hitting 61%, MJ made disgusting shot after shot to bring the Bulls down from 11 to tie it up with seconds left in the game. Fortunately for the Suns, super PG Kevin Johnson came through with some amazing, slithering drives and Barkley punctuated the end with his own clutch, power shots in the waning seconds. But MJ's masterful performance was just a harbinger of what was to come later in the finals that year, which we all know of course. (apologies for the transfer quality) hoopsencyclopedia.blogspot.com

On 21 January 1989, MJ treated us all to an amazing performance, hitting his first 9 shots on his way to scoring 53 Points in the Chicago Stadium against a tough Phoenix Suns team. Jordan shot 20-28 from the field (71.4%) and 13-15 from the line (86.7%) along with 16 Rebounds, 8 assists, 2 steals, and 1 block. Impossible right? Well not for Jordan -- he did that all season. In perhaps his best all-round season, and maybe the best all-round season of all time, MJ averaged 32.5 points at 53.8% from the field and 85% from the line, along with 8 rebounds, 8 assists, 2.8 steals and 0.8 blocks per game over 81 games. He also led a young Bulls team to the Eastern Conference Finals against the eventual champion Pistons. Amazingly he didn't even win the league MVP that year because Magic led the Lakers to more wins. It shows how great and competitive the league was back then. My favourite move is at 4:44 when he explodes baseline for a slam. The quickness of his first step along the baseline is amazing and he throws the ball into the basket so hard and fast and so high, it's unbelievable. Enjoy...
