Here is the story:
During the Competition Nodame took part in, for the first time, she was able to play accurately until things went awry as she forgets the rest of her piece. Despite this, she still manages to seduce the crowd's attraction.
Right after her huge mistake, she goes back home and practices. But when she does, she ends up remembering the incident in her competition.
Meanwhile, Chiaki has a nightmare about flying and is interrupted by none other than Saiko who invites him for a drink.
Nodame on the other hand is very aware of Saiko visiting Chiaki so she follows them (stalking) and hears their whole conversation - which includes Saiko wanting to get back with Chiaki.
Chiaki is confused why Saiko wants to get back with him and through his head swirls a pool of thoughts of Nodame. He then rejects Saiko and goes home. Nodame goes missing right after hearing Saiko but does not hear Chiaki's reply.
After a few days, there is still no sight of Nodame. And Chiaki has an upcoming concert with Stresseman. He has a hard time focusing with thoughts of Nodame missing in his head.
During Chiaki's concert (Nodame is not aware of this), Nodame suddenly shows up infront of Chiaki's apartment but no one answers. She figures that Chiaki is with Saiko and decides to go back to her hometown, Fukuoka. She bumps into Chiaki who is surprised why Nodame has come up with this decision.
Chiaki still has not met up with Nodame since her disastrous competition so he somewhat congratulates her for a job well done (for playing accurately for the first time). He asks her to come to Europe with her but then he is rejected due to the fact that Nodame does not want to be told what to do anymore.
Chiaki is forced to leave her alone and walks away...

Nodame loves Chiaki. Chiaki loves music. He's a brilliant music student who wants to be a conductor but a phobia about travel has him stuck in Japan. Their odd pairing ends up bringing out the best in each other.
