This is my NITRO 181 SABER P.O.W. swallowtail snowboard riding into the Canyon from Flower Point. This terrain is an easy off piste hike that leads you into some nice open trees and deep untracked powder. The 22mm lens does no justice to the pitch here. It looks kinda flat on video but this is a pretty good speed for 1.5 feet of heavy powder.
This is my favorite swallowtail out of several different brands. NitroUSA dot com produces these beauties in limited number so if you want one, call your local dealer and order it!
Swallowtail snowboards have been around since 1977 and are designed for use in heavy powder. The swallowtail treats snow as a liquid instead of a solid and the idea was borrowed from surfing. The tail automatically sets the board so you don't have to lean back in the deep pow. That way you have a more energetic stance and quicker response time. It may seem like a large board but it is a Ferrari in the tight trees and super stable at high speeds. The pointed nose helps keep it on top of the snow as you can see in this video.
