My Xmas vid! Why not celebrate the birth of GOD's child then to play as GOD himself! That's right, altough heavy retranslated and toned down, there are still too many hints on this unique (and personal favorite) Super Nintendo game to fool anyone. Enix gave the SNES the definitive GOD vs THE DEVIL game, that brings so many fond memories to anyone who was fortunate to play it back in 1990 (Let hope Nintendo and Square-Enix put this quickly on Wii VC, eh?). This small vid demonstrates the distinct 2 types of gameplay on Actraiser, both to the music of Yuzo Koshiro (of Streets of Rage fame). Ill be rediscovering this gem well into Christmas day, so to all, Merry Christmas from Shiryu! v ^_^ PS: If you're a true ActRaiser fan, make sure you get the AGTP (Aeon Genesis Translation Proclamation) translations patch for the original Japanese version of the game. It's simply perfect, with no name changing ("Lord" is "God", "Tanzra" is "Satan", etc...) and much harder then the original US/Euro release. Update: Confirmed on the Wii Virtual Console, the first ever Enix title on the system! Update: The wait is over, now available on Wii VC PAL on this day, April 13th 2007. Update: Finnally across the Atlantic, out now on American Wii VC on this day, May 28th 2007.

The sequel to ActRaiser. It was heavly critisized by fans and press, because it ommited the entire civilization building part of the gameplay wich made the original so unique. But I must disagree. Yes, its a shame there isn't any civ building bits, but what we have here is one of the most beautifull games ever made for the SNES. Since GOD now has wings, I believe this is in fact, a prequel to the events of the original ActRaiser, and you, as GOD will fight the 7 deadly sins, wich will eventualy lead to the final confrotation: GOD versus SATAN, in a battle wich is a clear reference to Dante's Inferno (you will have to see it to understand). Be warned, this is one of the hardest games I have ever played on any system! This vid is a mere scratch of the true classic videogame this really is. And GOD, how do I hate the Tower of Babel! (Pride... his favorite sin). ;) PS: Music by Yuzo Koshiro, of course.

A is for Actraiser. Made by Enix in 1991, Actraiser can be described as two games in one. What's shown here is only stage 1-1, an example of the side-scrolling action segment of the game. The other half is a sim-city like game where you guide a city to prosperity while fending off monsters and using godly powers, such as lightning, rain, sunlight, and earthquakes. Each town has two action stages- one to start the town, and another once all monster dens have been sealed. Each town has its secrets, and eaach has their own problems, some of which can only be solved going and helping other towns, such as helping a desert town for the gift of music to help a near-by warring town. It has a total of 13 action stages. All-in-all, it's a fun game which most gamers should enjoy, and I would reccomend you trying it out.

Gameplay video of ActRaiser for Super Nintendo (SNES). This is the desert/Egypt themed level Kasandora. The video starts in the simulation mode and then I enter action mode, playing Act-2. ActRaiser is a great SNES game by Enix that combines side-scrolling action with a simple city-building simulation mode.

ACTRAISER is not an easily defined game. Is it a simulation or an action game? Actually, it's both! Ages ago, you and your people established a tranquil home; free of iniquity and without evil. Eventually, the diabolical Tanzra and his Guardians invaded your peaceful paradise, turning it into a vile place inhabited by monsters. Now, many years after fleeing and having built up your strength, you return to exact revenge on Tanzra and take back your land. The Action mode of the game calls for you to battle the nefarious monsters that have assumed control of your home, while the Simulation mode has you guide your people through the rebuilding process. Taking advantage of the SNES' advanced capabilities, ACTRAISER challenges you to reconstruct a civilization, while eliminating evil in your town.
