jihad junior high - pakistan

22:52
November 2005 Critics in the West argue that Pakistan's madrassas glorify terrorism and should be shut down. But any proposed reforms are bound to be controversial in Pakistan. At a madrassa in Pakistan, students are being trained by an army officer. Under banners saluting bin Laden, they pledge solidarity to the Taliban. This video, filmed in October 2001, demonstrates the links between the schools and military. The army uses the idea of Jihad to pursue its objectives in Afghanistan and Kashmir. "Who are we to tell them that they are militants or extremists or terrorists. It's all diabolical nonsense", states General Hameed Gul, former head of Pakistan's intelligence service. After the July bombings, it was revealed that at least one bomber had visited the madrassas. Musharraf announced plans to reform the schools. But these reforms have now been watered down. "We don't want to put 17,000 odd madrassas into jeopardy", explains Religious Affairs Minister Ejas Ul-Hug. Having already survived two assassination attempts by those who believe he is too Western, Musharraf is in a delicate position. He is telling the West what it wants to hear but real reform remains elusive.

pakistan dilemma - pakistan

8:53
Sep 2001 Pakistani leadership is in serious danger of alienating a significant sector of the country by working with the USA against fundamentalist Islam. However, he is in serious danger of alienating a significant sector of his country by working with the USA against fundamentalist Islam. It is no secret that Pakistan has trained and supported many high ranking Taliban officials; "Government policy has been to support the Taliban, give them backing, give them advice, give them help in material fields where they may be lacking". But the Madrassas have also trained many Pakistani generals and fundamentalism is widespread amongst the militia and the general populace. We talk to the very visible militant sectors in Pakistan, spurred on by the Holy wars in Afghanistan and Kashmir and clearly not inclined to alignment with America.

freedomfest 2007 big debate 6of7 rebuttal d'souza と paul

9:55
The BIG Debate: U.S. Foreign Policy and the War in Iraq Libertarians Ron Paul & Doug Casey vs. Conservatives Larry Abraham & Dinesh D'Souza A summary of the points raised during the rebuttal: Dinesh D'Souza * The issue here is not just "the government", it's also what the founders stood for. Libertarians believe the founders stood for liberty. Is liberty only good for us? The principled libertarian, like the founders, believes that liberty is a universal aspiration. * The idea of 911 as a police action: Memo to our opponents; the guys that did 911 are all dead. If that's the war on terror then you might as well declare it over. What about all the new terrorists coming out of the madrassas committing bombings all over the world? * The idea that we should pull all of our troops home everywhere and get involved nowhere; if you took this idiotic principle and applied it over the past 100 years...is it the idea that if FDR didn't like Hitler he should go choke him himself? * Blowback; foreign policy is sometimes about the principle of the lesser evil. Sometimes you ally with the bad guy to get rid of the worse guy. In WW2 we allied with the really bad guy--Stalin--because Hitler posed a greater threat at the time. * We sold those weapons to Saddam? Non-sense. The U.S. diplomatically tilted towards Iraq in the 80's because Khomeini then posed a greater threat than Saddam. * It is true we're seeing a blowback. Is the average Muslim in the Sudan or Somalia or Islamabad willing to go to his death because the Palestinians don't have a state? Give me a break. Is the ordinary Muslim willing to kill himself because there are troops in Mecca? There are no troops in Mecca. They're 500 miles away in the Saudi desert. The average Muslim is not saying that in the street. * What they're saying is: the US is the global head of the unbelievers or the pagans. The US is exporting thorough globalization and free trade values that are undermining Islam, destroying the Muslim family, and corrupting the innocence of Muslim children. Pulling home the troops will not stop that. Their argument is the fundamental values of Islam are being attacked. * It is American ideas and values that are at the root of this. Either we stand up and fight for them, or we go down with them. Ron Paul * If we had respected private property and not used regulation to take away the responsibility to protect passengers from the airlines themselves, it's likely that the pilots of the planes that were used on 911 would have had guns in the cockpit and been able to defend themselves and prevent the event from occurring. * Now 911 is the excuse for perpetual war. Iraq had nothing to do with 911, yet 911 is the excuse for the initiation of the Iraq invasion. * Our foreign policy creates conditions for terrorism * Christian non-intervention means you don't go to war carelessly and you do not preemptively strike a nation that has not threatened you. * Michael Scheuer is the world expert on Bin Laden who says Ron Paul is the enemy of Al Qaeda because if we take Paul's advice it will remove the primary source of new recruits for Al Qaeda. They like us in their backyard (Iraq) where they can pick us off one by one and wear us down. * Suicide terrorism's root cause is not radical Islam. Robert Pape's book, Dying to Win: The Strategic Logic of Suicide Terrorism notes the top suicide bombing nation is not Islamic -- it happens to be Sri lanka. I was unconvinced he was right, but he convinced me. The top motivation to get someone to commit suicide terrorism is foreign occupation. * It's the Arabian peninsula that is considered holy land by the terrorists, not just Mecca. * The fundamental principle of the constitution is non-intervention and minding our own business. If we had embraced that principle all along and apply it in the future we will be much safer. exporting taliban revolution - afghanistan

23:28
Oct 1998 Exploring the complex web of relations between the Taliban, Iran, Pakistan and fundamentalist Islamic groups. The story makes it clear that the Taliban have now turned their attention to Iran and have been fermenting trouble there. The Taliban take us to see Iranian hostages. Caught by the mujahadeen these diplomats were sold to the Taliban. They're booty in the intensifying struggle between the two great houses of Islam. Afghanistan is Sunni - Iran, Shia. Taliban members tell us of their intent to take the Taliban's revolution on to Iran. Mohiuddin is a militant member of Iran's Sunni minority. They are guests of the Taliban and have previously operated here in secret. But here they make an explosive announcement: the launch of their own Taliban-style revolution on Iranian soil. And if nations start aligning, Pakistan would be right by the Taliban's side. Pakistan's creation of the Taliban is again strongly depicted through the Taliban Madrassas or schools, which are based in Pakistan. Filming in a key religious school near Peshawar, we find Sami-ul-Haq preaching to 2,500 students from all over the Arab world. A man who is one of the Taliban's ideological founding fathers, provides them with a new generation of recruits. Sami-ul-Haq is an ex Pakistani senator and his schools have trained many of the Taliban's central committee members. He tells us; "We now have Taliban from Arab countries, the Far East - Thailand etc. Central Asia also, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan - They are also seeking Islam." Anti-western students throw insults at the camera. Meanwhile in bullet-ridden Kandahar we capture the militant Islamic state in action. At a public execution crowds gather to see 3 men convicted of murder gunned down by their victim's relatives.

maula ya salli- qaseeda by owais raza qadri p1-2

9:38
Qaseeda Burdah Shareef Part 1 THE POEM OF THE CLOAK The Burda, or the Prophet's Mantle or Cloak, is a qasida (poem) composed by Imam Sharafuddin Muhammad Al-Busiri, may Allah have mercy on him. Imam Busiri was born in Egypt in 608 A.H. and died in 695 A.H. (corresponding to 1212 C.E to 1296 C.E.). Imam Busiri composed the qasida after suffering from a stroke which left him partially paralysed. He prayed to Allah for a cure then fell asleep. In a dream, he saw himself reciting the qasida to the Holy Prophet Muhammad, upon him be peace and blessings, who then touched the paralysed part of his body and threw his mantle or Burda over him. On awakening, he discovered he had been cured of his paralysis. The verses of The Burda have since been learned by heart and inscribed on the walls of mosques and madrassas all over the Muslim world, and it is congregationally recited all over the world. More than 90 commentaries have been written on this qasida, and it has been translated in Persian, Urdu, Turkish, Berber, Punjabi, French, and German, to name but a few languages. The Burda is in 10 parts and has 160 verses all of which end with the Arabic letter Meem.

pakistan crisis 1/2

8:00
Aired on June 19, 2007 Cracks in Pakistan's dictatorship. A political crisis is gripping the regime of President/General Pervez Musharraf with historic protests challenging his military government. A man in whom the U.S has invested a whole lot of money and political capital since 9/11. It all started back in March when Musharraf suspended the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. Massive protests were met with armed pro-government supporters and dozens were killed. Since then, the protests have continued led by thousands of lawyers growing more confident and putting increasing pressure on the regime. The U.S. sees him as a bulwark against Islamic fundamentalism in the region. But at home Musharraf has also cultivated what some call the military-mosque alliance. At a mosque in the centre of Islamabad, a mullah has declared sharia law. The government remains silent. There are tens of thousands of Pakistani troops in provinces bordering Afghanistan. Despite this, the Taliban are growing stronger. Avi talks to Ayesha Siddiqa, author of Military Inc: Inside Pakistan's Military Economy, and Zahid Hussein, journalist and author of Frontline Pakistan: The Struggle with Militant Islam. THE FACTS ON PAKISTAN Islamabad has handed over more than 700 suspected al-Qaeda operatives to the U.S. as of 2005. (Source: BBC news) Washington has given Pakistan at least $10 billion in military and civilian funding since 9/11. Musharraf has sent 80,000 troops to this region and 700 have been killed. (Source: The Economist) Waziristan (bordering Afghanistan)has one hospital bed per 6,000 inhabitants and a 10% literacy rate. More than 80% of the men are educated in the Madrassa and girls not at all. A poll in February showed that 54.2% of Pakistanis approve of how Musharraf is doing his job.

freedomfest 2007 big debate 1of7 ron paul

The BIG Debate: U.S. Foreign Policy and the War in Iraq Libertarians Ron Paul & Doug Casey vs. Conservatives Larry Abraham & Dinesh D'Souza Summary of points raised by Ron Paul: * In general, in the past those who advocated non-intervention won elections. * The constitution did not give permission to the US government to initiate wars of aggression and that was for good reason. * The constitution notes that war should only be waged after a declaration of war from congress. * The founders' advice was to talk to people, trade with them, but not intervene in the internal affairs of other nations. * There are many unintended consequences of intervention. As more intervention has taken place over the 20th century, people around the world have become resentful of U.S. foreign policy. This resentment has created blowback as extremist organizations have become motivated to attack the U.S. based on its interventionist foreign policy. * If a non-intervention policy is hard to accept, consider what intervention looks like from the other side. What would we think if the Chinese had troops within our borders and they were teaching us to live like the Chinese and teaching us their religion and their laws? We would be outraged and we would fight to remove their presence. * When Ronald Reagan sent troops to Lebanon and reversed his pledge to never turn tail and run. He explained the reversal due to his realizing the irrationality of the policies of that nation and the hatreds of the region. It was a lesson he had to learn, but we still haven't learned it. * In 1953 we used the CIA to overthrow democratically elected Prime Minister Mohamed Mosedec because we didn't like him defending the interests of the Iranians against the interests of the British and American oil companies. And we wonder why they get angry. * We remember nothing, they forget nothing. * In the 1980's we subsidized the radical madrassa schools and Osama bin Laden to create "freedom fighters" against the communists * We were partners with Saddam Hussein because he was attacking Iran. When he used gas, we looked the other way and actually sold him the gas. * These policies have to stop, and a better managed war in Iraq will not solve America's fundamentally broken foreign policy FreedomFest is an annual festival where "free minds meet" to celebrate "great books, great ideas, and great thinkers" in a liberal, open-minded society.
