Interesante conversación entre Efraín Wong, director de Operaciones del Grupo Wong y productor de pisco; Johnny Schuler, presidente de la Cofradía de Catadores de Pisco del Perú; y Cecilia Valenzuela, sobre la noticia sensacionalista del diario chileno La Tercera, acerca de una supuesta "victoria" de Chile sobre la denominación de origen, también concedida a ese país por 9 países, para el licor de uva. Lo más importante, destacan las diferencias de calidades entre el pisco y el aguardiente de uva del país del sur.
Como se sabe, para las autoridades peruanas la versión chilena es antojadiza, pues los países que también reconocen al pisco como originario de ese país, lo han hecho respetando acuerdos previos que tenían con la nación del sur.
En ese sentido, el secretario general de la Cancillería, Gonzalo Gutiérrez, negó que Chile haya ganado la disputa a Perú por el origen del pisco en el seno de la OMPI (Organización Mundial de la Propiedad Intelectual) y que, por el contrario, algunos países miembros sí aceptaron la solicitud peruana presentada hace un año con ese objetivo.
"Hace poco más de un año presentamos ante la OMPI (de la cual Chile no es miembro en temas de denominación de origen) una solicitud pidiendo el reconocimiento del pisco, la misma que acaba de ser avalada por los países que integran el llamado Arreglo de Lisboa", refirió.
El funcionario dijo que este reconocimiento se efectúa sin perjuicio del reconocimiento previo que se otorgó a Chile cuando firmó un TLC con la Unión Europea y que, por lo tanto, la información de que algunos países hayan rechazado la petición peruana no es exacta.
Por su lado, Indecopi informó que recién el lunes recibió una notificación donde se consignaba que 13 países más, integrantes de la OMPI y miembros del Arreglo de Lisboa, reconocieron la denominación de origen pisco a favor de Perú.
Los países de la Unión Europea miembros del Arreglo de Lisboa y Costa Rica aceptaron ese reconocimiento únicamente en caso que no sea obstáculo para la utilización de productos provenientes de Chile.
